About Us
Coolwater Farms, LLC is
a partnership between Vasby Farms, a local agricultural business in
eastern Dane County, and two graduates of the UW-Madison College of
Agricultural and Life Sciences, Jeff Malison and Dave Northey.
Jeff is an avid fisherman and has been involved in aquaculture research at UW-Madison for more than 25 years.
Dave grew up on a family farm in Jefferson County and met Jeff in graduate school at the UW-Madison.
The two began raising fish in the early 1980s on Dave’s family farm. In the 1990s they built the present facility located between Cambridge and Deerfield.
